Lebanon was the first country we chose for cooking around the world and for the recipes we chose Baba Ghanoush and Beef Kofta. Below is the recipe we came up with after reviewing multiple recipes that others have used online. We attempted to make it as authentic as possible, and from our research it looked like spices were a big part of the dish! We love kebabs, but we were going to leave that tasty dish to the street food experts!


Yield: 4 servings

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 45 minutes


  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 whole bunch parsley, stems removed (about 2 packed cups parsley leaves)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp Allspice
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground cloves
  • ½ tsp coriander
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • To serve: pita, sliced onions, tzatziki sauce and tomatoes (or whatever you want to serve with it!).


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine the ground beef, diced onion, 1 tsp Allspice, ½ tsp cayenne pepper, ½ tsp black pepper, ½ tsp cinnamon, ½ tsp ground cloves, ½ tsp coriander, ½ tsp cumin, ½ tsp nutmeg, and ½ tsp paprika in a large mixing bowl. Mix the meat and spices together using your hands. You can let the meat refrigerate overnight or make it right away.
  3. Using your hands mold the meat mixture into 2 inch logs. Lay the meat in a greased oven safe dish as you make them
  4. Put in oven and cook for 30 minutes. Rotate halfway through.
